Stoicon-X New England 2019

(New England region: Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine) This is a local gathering in affiliation with Stoicon 2019 in London and Stoicon-X throughout the world.

Whether you are new to the Greek philosophy of Stoicism or already well-versed in the topic, this conference is a chance to learn more about Stoicism and interact with others interested in the topic.

Stoicism, founded by Zeno of Citium at around 301 BC in Athens, Greece, is an ancient philosophy that is still applicable in modern times. It has been practiced, and contributed to by, people from all walks of life, both ancient and modern. The philosophy focuses on Socratic virtues such as wisdom, and encourages living the philosophy rather than just pondering it, with an emphasis on people focusing on what is within their control. Stoicism also emphasizes how relatively brief our lives are, the importance of applying reason, and emotional resilience.

Stoicon-X events like this one are small conferences organized around the world to complement the main Stoicon 2019 in London, England. The goal of Stoicon-X is for local groups to put on their own mini-conferences in their own areas.
